Thursday, April 19, 2018 (Miami, FL) — Boats Group, the leading global classifieds marketplace and marketing software solutions provider to marine brokers and dealers hosted a workshop in collaboration with IronHack, a global tech school specializing in web development and UX/UI design.
More than 100 people visited Boats Group’s headquarters in Miami where a mobile chat app was created using React Native, a popular new framework for the frontend of mobile apps. Created in a hackathon by Facebook developers in 2013, React Native was made available to the public three years ago and has been adopted by such tech giants as Microsoft, Samsung and Netflix.
The React Native framework has been implemented by Boats Group in current mobile apps and will be used in future app developments. Proficiency in React Native is a skill that is increasingly in demand among developers, including current Boats Group job openings and is a skill heavily emphasized by IronHack.
“The Miami tech scene is a small community that is up and coming. Teaming up with IronHack exposes more people to the growing demand for highly qualified developers to fill high-paying positions,” said Monica Montenegro, Corporate Recruiter for Boats Group.
Boats Group plans on hosting more of these events in the future to help grow Miami’s burgeoning tech community. Four IronHack alumni currently work at Boats Group and remain engaged with the program as guest speakers and contributors.
“Bringing in the city’s most passionate base of developers allows us to play an integral role in supporting the community,” said Greg Marte, QA Manager. “Events like these also keep ourselves on the leading edge of technology by collaborating and learning alongside the best in our area.”
