Virtual tour, local delivery and price drop badges promote more engagement for boat listings

MIAMI, May 1, 2020 – Boats Group, the tech business behind the largest online marketplaces for boats and yachts in the world, today announced the launch of three new, free-to-use inventory badges that are specially designed to support the marine industry’s quick shift to virtual selling. Never before has it been more important for brokers and dealers to embrace technology and arrange live video tours, advertise local delivery options, and alert customers to great deals. The badges, now available for Boat Trader and YachtWorld listings, inform buyers of the latest price drops and virtual services and solutions offered by sellers.

“Right now, every investment must deliver a maximum return and our platforms and tools are expertly designed to make it easy for the largest audience of boat buyers to find and buy a boat from home,” said Courtney Chalmers, Boats Group’s VP of Marketing. “With traffic up nearly 25 percent and leads up 30 percent in April YoY, it’s clear that boaters are craving the upcoming boating season more than ever. These timely badges give brokers and dealers the ability to merchandise critical services that help them sell boats faster during these uncertain times.”

Introducing Boats Group’s New Badge Features:

  • Schedule Live Video Tours – Badges are displayed on boats that are available for virtual walkthroughs. By clicking the badge, consumers can schedule a video tour with the broker/dealer.
  • Local Delivery Available – Badges are displayed on boats that are available for local delivery to a consumer’s driveway or dock.
  • Price Drop Notifications – When a boat’s price drops, a badge is displayed on the listing showing the date and amount of the price drop. Consumers also have the ability to filter search results to view boats with recent price drops.

Consumer engagement in April has been strong, recent activity on the Boats Group portals more closely resembles midsummer volume than spring, and the new badges are proving to increase engagement with listings. In fact, since Boats Group launched the price drop badge, early data shows that new filtered searches by recent price drop are resulting in 37% higher click-throughs.

“There’s no question that these are unprecedented times for the marine industry, said Chalmers. “While the top of the sales funnel is filling and signaling strong demand, boat sales have slowed for the time being. In this period of uncertainty, one thing we can be sure of is consumers want to go boating, and they’re counting on the convenience of virtual experiences to get them there.”
